Brew, Lower Burnett Lane, Brisbane, Ph: 0732114242Date of Review: 17 August 2012
Brew is another hidden gem down Lower Burnett Lane. It might not look like much from the outside, but inside this narrow den is a hive of activity. We get there early for brunch and already the place is packed. Unfortunately, it isn't table service and there are no menus even on the tables for us to browse.
After grabbing a couple of menus from the counter, I notice that gluten-free bread is available, but I'm still unclear which dishes are gluten-free. A quick trip back to the counter confirms that the majority of dishes can be made gluten-free. I decide on the haloumi with avocado and salsa served on gluten-free bread, as well as my signature skinny latte. The latte is good, but a tad burnt on top. The haloumi is delicious and the serving is generous. The avocado and salsa are a good combination with the haloumi and create a simple yet filling breakfast.
The staff are relatively attentive, but because there isn't table service and the place is so crowded, I think this makes it difficult for everyone to be tended to.
The food is very reasonably priced and good value for money.
Despite all the customers, the restaurant was quite clean.
